Hailing from all four corners of the globe, Doha was filled with the fashion world’s biggest heavyweights. And it’s all thanks to Fashion Trust Arabia. Last night, the capital crown of Qatar hosted a glittery event for FTA’s 2021 awards, held in the country’s recently inaugurated National Museum—and it might just be the region’s biggest fashion event of the year.
Under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Mossa Bint Nasser as well as the founder of the council, Tania Fares, the duo welcomed an array of high-end celebrity figures and industry members in FTA’s annual ceremony. Celebrating the region’s talents, the gala championed the MENA’s up-and-coming designers in a contest that rewards the plucked creatives of tomorrow with prizes from up to $200,000 alongside an extensive mentorship program led by the organization’s partners.

In this year’s iteration, 24 meticulously selected trailblazers from all across the region flocked to the peninsula to introduce their latest creations to a very refined panel of judges – and they are of high calibre. Virgil Abloh, Olivier Rousteing, Zuhair Murad, Natalia Vodianova, Alexa Chung to mention just a few, were all part of the extraordinarily experienced committee.
The six much-coveted prized spots were finally assigned in a tough competition. Arguably the region’s event of the year, it sure was a sparkling night in Doha as many stars came to shine and shake the industry up too. Russian supermodel Irina Shayk, English Naomi Campbell, French actress Catherine Deneuve, Australian Laura Brown amongst others were all seen as part of the many faces that took part in yesterday’s ceremony celebrating the designers of the future.
