From crystal-covered nails to Cardi B’s ultra-pointy manicure, you might have thought you’ve seen it all when it comes to nail art. Not quite. 2021 is here and jewelry is taking over.
No, we’re not talking glued-on Swarovski crystals, but full-fledged pieces made specifically for your nails.
The trend took on new heights with Daniel Roseberry’s surrealist accessories for his Schiaparelli SS21 collection. Alongside sculpted golden masks and nose-shaped earrings, Roseberry introduced gilded fingertip accessories. Another remarkable piece was the three-part finger ring with a red-painted nail.
Rosberry’s latest iteration of the trend was even crazier: finger rings with extra-long gold-covered nails reminiscent of Ayanna Williams’ Guinness World Record winning nails.
If gold isn’t your thing, Iris Van Herpen has unveiled a series of transparent 3D-printed nail accessories in collaboration with Japanese nail artist Eichi Matsunaga. If you’re looking to dive off into your very own sci-fi fantasy, the exoskeletal-shaped nails are a must.

Another brand to take on to the trend is French emerging label Egon Lab. For their Fall 2021 collection, the label released artisanal claws, a pair made with precious stones and Swarovski crystals, alongside another accessory with dragon-inspired silver and gold details.
So if you’re just stuck at home or can’t get to your nail appointment, you might want to cop a pair or two.
