Cult Lebanese Brand Katrine Hanna Unveils the Ultimate Summer Shoe

When it comes to footwear, few designers in the region do it better than Dubai-based label Katrine Hanna.

Since launching in 2017, the eponymous brand founded by Australian-born Lebanese designer Katrine Hanna has been a regional favourite, with stockists varying from the gargantuan Level Shoes in Dubai, as well as local luxury boutiques like Rania’s Corner, Gigi and Maison Orient.

As always, Katrine Hanna’s new collection is all about nature. Continuously inspired by flora in particular, the designer has carved a lane of her own with her signature heel that’s carved out of the Banksia, an Australian wildflower that dries into a nut.

This season, it’s the desert that has caught the designer’s eye. Entitled ‘Desert Rose’, Hanna took cues from her adopted home, Dubai, and drew inspiration from desert roses and freshly opened hibiscuses – one of few plants that thrive in sand.

“When designing I am always thinking of how I can connect the customer closer to my love of nature, so that when the customer wears my shoe their appreciation for the flora surrounding them deepens,” explains Hanna.

The collection is chockful of glossy patent leathers, a take on the humidity that encapsulates the UAE. The hibiscus’s rich red hue is seen on Katrine Hanna’s new heeled Ayla slipper and the strappy, mesh-covered Zula.

Of course, the collection would not be complete without their signature best-selling Bad Banksia, this time reimagined as a strappy ankle tie sandal.

‘We have been waiting so long for this collection, due to the delays resulting from the pandemic. I’m so excited it is finally instore and online just in time for summer and gardening fun!” the brand stated on their Instagram.

The collection is now available to shop at katrinehanna.com
