Lebanon’s socio-political situation has been in the limelight for a reason. The nation was on the brink of a revolution last year after thousands took to the streets in protest of the country’s elitist ruling class, calling for an end to corruption. The protests may have died down, but the country’s precarious condition persists: and Lebanese designer Hala Moawad is not backing down.
Bringing together more than 70 visual artists, photographers and fashion designers, the Momma’s Blues designer has put together a one-day charity exhibition entitled ‘It’s Lebanon’s Anarchy That Bothers You’ to benefit Beit el Baraka, a community-run NGO dedicated to bettering the lives of Lebanon’s most marginalized communities.
Ever wanted to own a photograph by renowned French-Algerian artist Mohamed Bourouissa? Well, now is the time. Bourouissa is joined by the likes of Jacquemus, Lou Doillon, Rabih Kayrouz, Noor Fares, and Amine Jreissati, who have each donated works to benefit the charity exhibition.
Pieces by Lebanese photographer Myriam Boulous—who extensively covered the most-recent Lebanese protests—are also up for grabs.
